Like yesterday's "Quilted," today's puzzle was written for a picnic on Sunday.

Cute. Didn't get the pattern
Cute. Didn't get the pattern right away, but once I did, I got six of the twelve, which was enough to get the message. Got 4, 5, 6, and 10 by working back from the message; got 2 by working back with wordlist-searching help; and got 8 with, er, just the wordlist, since it turns out 8 isn't used in the message at all....
Oopsie
I don't know how I managed to overlook 8's absence in the message, as I had already gone through and removed 3 or 4 other words that didn't contribute much to the final message. Consider that fixed.
