Language is a wonderful phenomenon. The contributors at Language Log -- notable linguists from all parts of the country, and occasionally the globe -- find inspiration for their linguistic commentary in all sorts of places, from scholarly publications to presidential debates to newspaper headlines to The Simpsons.
